You sometimes hear people say: ‘I have a deliverance ministry.’
But there is no such thing in the bible.
Why? Because everyone should be doing it, the same as evangelism or caring for people.
Mark 16:17-18 says: ‘These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: they will cast out demons in my name…’
And Luke 10:19 adds: ‘Jesus gave His disciples authority over all powers of the enemy.’
So, believing disciples should be doing deliverance.
Sadly, few do. There are tens of thousands of believing disciples in this country. But most of them have never been involved in deliverance.
Why? There are three reasons:
Firstly, some believing disciples do more deliverance than others.
1 Cor 12: 9-11 says: ‘Do we all have the power to do miracles? Do we all have the gift of healing? Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages? Do we all have the ability to interpret unknown languages? Of course not!’
So deliverance comes from your place in the body. It’s not for everyone.
Secondly, it means going head-to-head with the powers of darkness. That requires commitment, obedience, sacrifice and ongoing repentance. Not everyone is prepared to pay the price.
And finally, most churches don’t believe in at least one of the following: a) the gifts of the Spirit, b) the devil c) that Christians can have demons.
As a result, fewer people function in deliverance than in evangelism, music, or pastoral work.
If all believing disciples did deliverance, this country wouldn’t have become an enemy stronghold of immorality, occult and idolatry.
The church can still turn the tide. Get trained in deliverance from people who already do it. Always do it with others, and always do it within the context of church.
But – do it. It’s not too late.
