I get nervous when I hear Christians saying they’re going to take on the devil.
He’ll happily accept the challenge. And fighting him in your own strength will end badly.
You are not strong enough to fight him. No-one is.
You can only fight the powers of darkness with the authority of the name of Jesus.
And even then, just reciting the words ‘in the name of Jesus’ is not effective, as the seven sons of Sceva found in Acts 19:7-10. Our authority is only activated by faith.
I was ministering once when a demon-possessed man ran at me, ready to break a chair over my head.
I commanded the spirits to halt in Jesus name, and they did, much to my relief. You find out what you truly believe at times like this!
Don’t engage with the devil. Jesus didn’t. He just quoted scripture to him. Why try and do better?
1 John 4:4 says: ‘The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.’
Re-read it. Who is greater? Definitely not you.
