It puzzles me why churches become ‘culturally relevant’.
They end up so like society, they’re not worth joining.
Their ‘gospel’ is so insipid, so diluted, so politically correct and so immersed in inoffensive cultural claptrap that few people get saved.
Why would they?
Jesus’ church was culturally irrelevant. He bulldozed cultural norms by having female disciples.
He spoke to Gentiles, he ate with “sinners”, including tax-collectors, whores, and the socially “unclean”.
He touched lepers and trashed Jewish traditions.
The enemy wants us to conform to the world, to be friends of the world, and to be so lovingly nice that we have the cutting edge of a bowl of custard.
If you want to be culturally relevant, church is not the place for you.
