Some people go through their Christian lives trying to find their ministries.
I knew a bloke who was a gifted evangelist. But he didn’t reach his potential because he was convinced he was a leader – even though no-one followed him.
Finding your ministry is simple.
God placed Adam in a garden, and then said: ‘Work the garden, and look after it.’
Adam didn’t have to go looking for his role. It was in front of him.
God has placed you in a garden. What’s in front of you? That’s where your ministry starts. There’s no need to look elsewhere.
If you faithfully get on with it, God will add more.
Genesis 1 also says the garden contained … ‘trees bearing fruit with seed in it, according to their kinds.’
Fruit trees grow effortlessly. They don’t struggle and stress. And apple trees don’t produce plums.
It’s the same for you. God has called you to bear fruit after your kind.
What do you produce, effortlessly? Pastoral care? Encouragement? Prophetic words? Music?
If you’re an apple tree, you’ll never produce plums, no matter how you try.
Your ministry is right under your nose. It’s so obvious, you might miss is. Or maybe you don’t want to see it?
If you bring it to God, he will supernaturally empower it.
Then it will grow as you fan it, and reproduce similar ministries in other people.
And maybe he will give you a title one day. If he doesn’t, who cares? It’s what you produce that matters.
It’s simple. If it’s not natural, then it’s not you. Or him.
