Many Christians still refuse to have the COVID jab because of their ‘principles’. They are selfish.
Vaccines are a gift from our God who values human life. In contrast, anti-vaxxers devalue it.
They jeopardise the welfare of their ‘cities’ … Jeremiah 29:7 says: ‘Seek the welfare of the city … for in its welfare you will find your welfare.’
In Deuteronomy 24: 19-21, the Lord instructed farmers to leave some fruit and grain behind for the poor when they reaped.
Those farmers didn’t know which poor person would benefit, the same as we won’t know which person will benefit from us having the jab. But someone will. And that’s what matters.
Christians are called to seek the common good, and should take the jab (unless medics advise them not to).
The Queen put it well. She said that anti-vaxxers … ‘ought to think about other people rather than themselves.’
The Good Samaritan broke every religious and cultural rule to help a dying man. Meanwhile, God’s people across the road stuck to their principles. Nothing’s changed.
Jesus was clear that justice and mercy were more important than ‘principles’.
In a rampant global pandemic, our decisions affect others. So, we lay down our lives for them.
Remember, when you presented your body as a living sacrifice to God (Rom 12:1), your arm was included.
